Cleanerscene is owned and ran by Nicola Rowland. Born in 1977, she left school in 1993 and furthered her education at South Cheshire College. She went on to gain a BTEC National Diploma and a HND in Travel and Tourism Management.
During the summer after completing her education, Nicola met her future husband, rushed headlong into buying a house and for work she increased her hours at the pub where she had been employed part time during her education. This was fine for a while but in time became unhappy as this was not the path she had been hoping to go down. She enjoyed her work at the pub but wanted to pursue a career, unfortunately not too sure as what.
Nicola spent the next 9 years working in a variety of roles including secretarial, administrative, customer service and telesales trying to find out where her strengths lay and what she most enjoyed. Her final employed position was as a field sales representative for a jewellery company supplying wholesale silver and gemstone jewellery to retailers within the North West and the Midlands.
It was during this role that Nicola decided to look into having some domestic help. She was working all week and was tired of spending her free time cleaning the house. Many of the customers that she was dealing with at the time had a cleaner, all of whom said how lovely it was to come home and no longer have to worry about the housework.
Finding a cleaner however was a different matter. She realised there was a lack of quality, reliable cleaning services in the local area. In 2006, she decided to take the plunge, gave notice at her job and Cleanerscene was formed.
Initially, Nicola carried out the work herself roping in help from family and friends on extra busy days. As word spread, the demand for her service was high and therefore she was soon in a position to start recruiting staff.
Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength. Nicola is now office based and employs a team of staff. She has a growing set of domestic clients, many of which have been with her since the formation of the business.
She has also shown the capability to manage
commercial cleaning contracts from anything
from 2 to 96 hours per week.
Nicola’s motto for the business is ....
“We are small enough to care but big enough to deliver”
